We came across this wise quote by Dr. Sheryl Kingsberg — a clinical psychologist and a renowned sexual health expert — and had to share. She is the chief of behavioral medicine at MacDonald Women’s Hospital/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Professor in Reproductive Biology and Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University.
“Although your clinician should be opening the door to a discussion of menopause symptoms . . . please feel empowered to bring it up yourself,” she said by email. “If your clinician shuts you down, find a new one.”
Amen!
This excellent advice came at the end of a Physician’s Weekly report on a study that looked at what men know about what their partners are dealing with during the menopausal transition and how they can help.
In general, the men who chose to answer the online survey seemed to know quite a bit. Note the study was funded by a drug company that markets a hormone therapy solution.
